Connecting with an FTP client

Support June 02, 2010

Your files are completely integrated with our FTP server. You can access all of the folders and files that you manage on the Files page with any FTP client program of your choice. You can also run your FTP scripts against your files.

Hosted FTP supports FTPS (FTP Secure) for secure file transfers.  We strongly recommend that you connect with FTPS for improved security.  Connection details:

Host: ftp.hostedftp.com

User: Your Hosted FTP email address

Password: Your Hosted FTP password

Port: 21

Server type: . When configuring your FTP client connection, choose FTP over explicit TLS/SSL (FTPES). This will ensure that all file transfers are encrypted for security and privacy.

Transfer mode: We recommend choosing passive mode (PASV) to minimize issues with firewalls that block FTP connections.

If you are unable to connect using passive mode, please note that in addition to port 21 Hosted FTP uses ports 1200 --> 2000 for data transfers.  You may need to update your firewall configuration to allow access to ports 21 and 1200 --> 2000 for the TCP/IP protocol.
